bob-bloomfieldFor 16 years Bob Bloomfield was the lead innovator for public engagement with science at the prestigious Natural History Museum in London.

He is known internationally for his work  around engaging with environmental change, biodiversity and sustainability.

In 2010 he led the UK response to the international Year of Biodiversity for the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and Defra the UK Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs.

Bob was co-founder of the Global Business of Biodiversity Symposium which bought more than 700 delegates to ExCeL, London the largest ever private sector event examining the issues for business.

In 2012 he led the Earth Debates programme in partnership with the British Council and Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future in advance of Rio +20. His work brought together perspectives from the private sector, NGO, science and political communities.

Bob was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honors List 2012 for his contributions to Science (in Society) which he received at the Investiture from HRH the Prince of Wales on February 8 2013.

Bob is a currently working independently supporting diverse organisations in the engagement with science and environment including having advised Defra on biodiversity engagement issues. Current clients include the Department of Science Engineering Technology and Public Policy (STEaPP) at University College London, MET Design Studio, University of Guadalajara and the The Daw Aung Suu Kii Trust for Health and Education.
